Library Advisory Commitee

The Library is advised by a committee of experts in different disciplines. Faculty members of various disciplines are the members of the library. The Principal of the College is the Chairperson of the Committee. The Head of Library acts as the Convenor of the Committee. The functions of the Committee are to assist and advise the Head of Library in the formulation of library policies, purchase of library materials, improvement of library and information services, and operational matters As per the direction of the Chairman, the college Governing Council, the following Library Advisory Committee, is constituted for the year 2020-21

About The Library

About the Library

Amal College Library has a valuable collection books, periodicals, CDs .A well organised Digital Library has been set up. Access to e-resources has been provided by the Information and Library Network (INFLIBNET) Centre of UGC, Ahmedabad. College Library follows a centralized system.;Books, which are required for immediate references, are only available in the department collection.The college library building is functional and modular in construction.It has an area of 1500 sq.

Library Sections

The Library has circulation section, newspaper reading section, Librarian’s office, Internet Browsing
and digital library Corner , technical section, general reading area, periodicals section, catalogue
section, career stack area , UG, PG & Book Bank stack area, PG & reference Reading section, journals section and bound periodicals

Library collection

The library at present has a collection of 9212 . The audio-visual section has a collection of 82
CDs, 13 Students manuscripts. The library subscribes to 39 periodicals and 11 Newspapers

Arrangements of the collection

Books are arranged on the shelves according to Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC), a scientific
scheme of classification. This type of arrangement will help to keep the books on the same subject
together with those on related subjects coming next to them. Open access facility is provided in the
library to help the reader browsing the stack and selecting the books of his choice.

Computerization

The Library offers a computerized catalogue service.- http://library.amalvle.com
Most of the books in the library are bar coded. This helps the circulation counter in issue and return
of books quickly. Members are given bar – coded ID cards and books are issued on producing the I D
cards.

Library Rules and Regulations

General Rules
  • Identity card is compulsory for getting access to the Library
  • Silence to be maintained
  • No discussion permitted inside the Library
  • No Personal belongings allowed inside the library
  • Text books, Printed materials and issued books are not allowed to be taken inside the Library
  • Using mobile phone and audio instruments with or without speaker or head phone is strictly prohibitedin the library premises
  • Enter your name and signature at the entrance counter before entering library
  • The Librarian may recall any book from any member at any time and the member shall return the same immediately

Admission to Library

  • Students are allowed to Library only on production of their authorized / valid identity cards

Circulation of Books:

  • The issued books will have to be returned within a period of 14 days and on the fourteenth day, if needed, the student will get an extension of another 14 days Working Hours of the Library Monday to Saturday 8.30 AM to 5.30 PM

Circulation Issue System:

  • Books will be issued on presentation of the ID card. Students are instructed to check the books while borrowing and they will be responsible for any type of damage or mutilation notices at the time of return.

Overdue Charges:
  • Materials borrowed should be returned on or before due date stamped, if returned late overdue fine will be charged for the delayed period (Rs.1/Day)

Book Lost:

  • If the books are lost, then the borrower shall replace the books of the same edition or latest edition or pay double cost of the book after getting permission from the Librarian.

No due Certificate:

  • Each students/Staff shall obtain No dues certificate from the Library after returning all the books issued and after paying outstanding dues, if any.

Care of Library Books:

  • Students are required to handle the Books/ Journal very carefully; marking with pencil, writing or highlighting, tearing the pages or mutilating the same in any other way will be viewed very seriously. In such cases, reader shall be held responsible unless these are brought to the notice of the library staff at the time of issue.

Reference Section:

  • This section has Encyclopedia, Dictionaries, Text Books, Reference books, etc., which are only available for reference. User can make use of these resources.

Journal & Periodical Section:

  • In this section, journals and general magazines are available. The latest issues are displayed on display rack and other previous issues are arranged in the drawer. Bound volumes of Periodicals are arranged in rack alphabetically and are meant only for reference within the library
